In the spring 2016 I got involved with a production called John the Baptist Oratorio which had its opening night in November 2016 at Johanneksenkirkko in Helsinki. This was my first proper project where I was in charge of the costumes. I did it as an internship needed for my studies. My job was to design and create the costumes as well as choose pieces from a clothing sponsors selection and purchase pieces from retailers if necessary. By far this has been the most ground breaking, exciting and rewarding experience of my life. A major leap to the unknown.

PROCESS
Costumes for this production came from different sources. For female leads they were mostly made from scratch and for men costumes came partially from our sponsor Petrifun, and partially from different retailers and second hand shops. In the making process I had my classmate helping me with fittings, pattern making and sewing. One of the most important moments in the project was realising I needed help and had the courage to ask for it.
